A Few of My Favourite Things!

A couple months ago I took on more private lesson students, which is my main source of income. This means, however, that on some days of the week (like Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) I have less time to spend on blog posts. I made the decision that it’s better to have fewer high quality posts instead of lots of posts that I don’t feel are good quality! I hope you can understand my decision. So, I have decided to make some changes to my blog:

1. For the rest of December and January, the listening lesson will be posted once every two weeks (instead of every week). It’s a lot of work writing and recording the lessons!

2. The grammar, vocabulary, and expressions posts that usually come after the listening lesson will be spread over two weeks (instead of just one)

3. So that my blog isn’t completely boring, I’ve decided to compile a list of my favourite things at the moment. You might enjoy them too and you might find them useful!

~

In November, EnglishClub.com selected my blog as the ESL Site of the Month. Now there is a contest where you can select the ESL Website of the Year! (http://acepolls.com/polls/1177011)

We’re getting closer to Christmas! You can read up on Christmas and Santa Claus here:
What is Christmas?
Who is Santa?

If you and your children would like to follow Santa on his journey around the world, check the Official NORAD Santa Tracker:
http://www.noradsanta.org/

According to the Canadian government, Santa is a Canadian citizen!

I really like this quote that my friend Misako tweeted recently:
“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.” ~ Steve Jobs

Did you see the lunar eclipse this week? Check out some amazing photos here and here.

I can’t stop listening to this song – it’s so amazing! It’s a cover of Taylor Swift’s song “Sparks Fly.” The guy in the top right corning is “beatboxing“: he uses his mouth and voice to create the sounds of all the drums and other musical instruments in the background!

Right now I have started to follow you 😉 But I know that these changes are better for you, by the way, you going to help more people with your private lessons.

I want to talk you about a topic about me. I have studied to enter in merchant marine. I going to do the exam next year so I need to greatly improve my English. First I need to be especially proficient in reading comprehension for the exam. After that, I’ll have to train my fluency in all aspects. Because in the profession the primary means of communication is English. So, next year… I hope to have private lesson with you, it will be great.

I am looking forward for that that happen, but for now I keep studying for the exam. And the most important I hope you have a vacancy for me next year 😉

Sorry for my mistakes. If have any feel free for correct them.

Maybe one day I go to Canada to improve my English and to know snow… as I said in last post I have not known yet, I am from Brazil and here just there are heat… what a pity!

Take care,
Henrique.

Hello Henrique,

It’s nice to hear from you again! Feel free to email me next year when you want to begin lessons – I would love to help (if I have time available)! When do you have to take the exam? Did you read my page about private lessons? —> /p/private-lessons.html

Merry Christmas Henrique! All the best to you and your family.

Hello again,

The exam will be in July/August… After that I will contact you to do a package for me. I think I will take twice a week. I read your page and liked the method.

Merry Christmas to you too and is already getting the new year, so Happy New Year!

See you,
Henrique.
